When o1Labs shared our 2025 roadmap, we emphasized that roadmaps are inherently imperfect and evolve as we learn and adapt. In the last 6 months, the Mina ecosystem experienced a major transition, as the Mina Foundation shifted operating responsibilities for Mina to o1Labs and has scaled down to focus on establishing the decentralized treasury. While o1Labs’ core mission remains the same, this change means that the roadmap shared back in December 2024 no longer reflects the priorities of o1Labs now.
However, we still wanted to share an update on the progress made in the last few months, as well as a view of what’s on the path forward.
Progress

The roadmap graphic above reflects the progress made by the o1Labs team in the last several months. While not every item remains a current priority, and this is no longer the roadmap moving forward, we believe it is still important to share the state of the various initiatives with the community. Some more context on a few of the updates:
- Rust node (and web node) - Some members of the team previously working on the Rust node at Mina Foundation have moved over to o1Labs, and we are working on ramping up on this work. You can follow the team’s progress via this public board.
- o1js - Lots of updates have been made to o1js, including improvements on the public surface to make building with o1js simpler, efficiency changes that enable bigger circuits and faster onboarding, and stronger primitives to improve safety. And the latest release, v2.8, introduced zkFunctions for direct proving with Kimchi. Look out for a more in-depth update about o1js soon.
- Fungible token standard - Based on feedback we received from the community and builders, we have updated the fungible token standard to be more composable and compatible, in order to unlock higher functionality for DEX’s
- New docs
- Next Mina hard fork: Reduced slot time (see MIP), automating major upgrades, reducing zkApp transaction limits - We’ve made significant progress on these items, which are proposed to be included in the upcoming Mesa Upgrade
[Project Untitled] Evolves
Another notable development is related to [Project Untitled]. [Project Untitled] has evolved to become Ensue - the shared memory layer for agents. This refocus comes after observing the acute state management, specifically persistent memory and context management, challenges that agent builders face when creating agent swarms. A separate segment of the o1Labs team has been created to focus on this new direction. This ensures that Mina still receives the attention and development it needs to thrive. You can follow the development of Ensue’s on X.
Our Unchanged North Star
Despite these organizational shifts, our fundamental commitment to advancing Mina in the broader blockchain space remains rock-solid. How we see this objective shaping up for the immediate future:
- Making Mina fast, everywhere - This work shows up in a lot of ways, but most notably with the upcoming hard fork that will introduce important performance upgrades related to slot time, account updates, throughput, and more.
- Enabling Mina developers - In addition to delivering the toolkit that enables developers to build with Mina, such as improving o1js and working on the Rust node that will enable the web node, we will also focus on demonstrating Mina’s utility and value for users.
- Centering the community - Now that o1Labs is taking over community and marketing functions previously performed by Mina Foundation, we have been listening to the feedback and suggestions from the community. We know there is a lot of work to do in this area, and we are excited to share more community-focused initiatives in the coming months.
As always, we remain committed to transparency and community involvement. Let us know your thoughts and questions on this roadmap update in Mina’s Discord. The future of Mina is built on the foundation of community input, and your voice matters as we shape this next chapter.
